History The Pied Piper was first recorded in the history of Hamelin, Lower Saxony, Germany. He was rumored to wear a multicolored outfit and use a magical pipe to lure rats out of villages. Among the early depictions of the Pied Piper was actually in artwork within a glass window in Marktkirche in Hamelin. His figure was later captured in a painting based on the glass artwork, with the painting completed in 1592.
