Description: Up for sale is this antique 1786 French Letter from acting Consul of Philadelphia Pierre Francois Barbe de Marbois. Relying on the translation provided to me, it reads that the document should have been signed by Benjamin Franklin, President of Pennsylvania and Guilleaum Cavenough (possibly misspelled, could not find any information on him). However there are no signatures, I am assuming that they were either clipped from the edge or that this was an independent page referencing another. Very interesting piece involving the founding of the country. Measures about 9 1/2” x 8 1/8”. It has several old tape repairs and shows general wear. Note the stamp and watermark on the paper. Please view all twelve photos to help judge condition. Insurance and signature confirmation included in domestic shipping charges.
