Description: This neat 1868 cover was sent from the Registry branch to a George Fitch at 115 West Street in NYC. The cover has a signature of NYC postmaster James Kelly. The enclosure states that George Fitch's registered letter to Katie Rogers in Pelham NY was delivered. Kelly was appointed postmaster by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864 and served until 1869. Cover has a NYC FREE CDS and and an obvious fault from rough opening. Please email with any questions you may have as we will be happy to answer any and all.
