The Illustrated London News was a newspaper founded by Herbert Ingram. The first edition appeared on 14 May 1842 and was the world's first illustrated weekly newspaper. Nine pages (18 sides). It measures 400x 283mm (15.75x11inches). The spine is loose with binding witness marks where once bound (see images above), and has been reinforced/repaired on the outside. The pages are loose with some age yellowing. The pages have minor cuts, tears and blemishes due to their age; please see main list for detail. The engravings vary in size. Any watermarks on images are for display only and not on the original engravings. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot guarantee that the issue is complete 'as published' - but what I have described above IS present. There are three pages missing, so if you're looking for something in particular PLEASE ASK.
