Reed of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by a relative of Benjamin Rush, of the same name, against negative comments made by Reed. William Reed (1806-1876) was a politician, jurist, and statesman. He served as the minister to China under Buchanan administration and notoriously returned in opposition to the Civil War. A converted Democrat, Reed was sympathetic to the South which earned him many enemies in Pennsylvania. This pamphlet is a public rebuke of comments made by Reed against Benjamin Rush, prominent founding father and Philadelphian. COLPAP-1047-RT161
