Description: Vintage 1911 Bauch & Lomb Biunial Model BB (67616) Balopticon Magic Lantern with Switch Box, Original Transport Box. New York Patent Feb. 21, 1911. The brass plate on this magic lantern projector reads, "Bausch Lamp; Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, N. Y. U. S. A. Model BB 'Baloptican', Reg. U. S. Pat. Off. No. 67616, Pat. Feb. 21, 1911." They are for showing your magic lantern slides. One view dissolves easily into the next with no white screen between slides. Magic Lantern Slides are one of the best-untapped resources for antique photographs there are. Slides were usually discarded after a relatively short period of use so are difficult to find. The projector is 16 1/2" front to back, 101/4" tall, 9 1/2" wide. Switching box is 10" wide X 6" front to back X 5" tall. The switching box does not fit in the carrier box for the lantern. Carrier box for lantern is 17" wide x 11 1/2" front to back x 10 1/2" tall. Comes with approximately 250 original glass slides. This came from a missionary at the turn of the 1900s and has been well preserved in the original containers. The glass slides sell for $15 individually on eBay. The original Magic Lantern is only found on the internet in a limited research capacity. We obtained this from a private collector. Purchased as is with no refunds. Does have all of the original electrical cords but it has not been plugged in to see if the machine works. Shipping will be expensive since the lot is very heavy. No refunds on this lot.
