Black & White Size . . . 7 1/4 ” x 5 ” This is an original vintage 1926 full page halftone print of a famous painting showing a Fisherman trying to get back to his schooner in fog and storm. Background: This image was “Copyrighted by Chas. A. Harbaugh, Washington, D.C.” Winslow Homer's The Fog Warning: The Fisherman as Heroic Character This was part of a notable series of oil paintings of marine subjects with figures called “The Life Line” of 1884. This famous painting represents a Banks fisherman in oilskins and sou’wester returning to his schooner with two or three fine halibut as his prizes stowed in the stern of his dory. The water is dark and glassy in the light of late afternoon, and the sea is rough. There is a fog rising yonder which would spell danger to the man so far away from his schooner. The sails of his schooner are visible far off at the right as he stretches his hear to turn and search the seas. This painting was given to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1894 and was extensively reproduced in B&W. Condition: This 97 year old print is in excellent condition – no aging, no tears. It has printing on the reverse side.
