For its size, it is loaded, packed, filled, stuffed with an enormous amount of information on all the plants on this planet, including herbs and medicine, foods, and fruits, seeds and flowers, and everything you need to know about plants and how they can benefit you in many ways. I recommend to pack this book in your backpack if you’re going camping or on a long hike where you can’t google a poisonous plant. The book is an original printing from 1934 and has special attributes such as being illustrated in color. It is a great addition to any collection of antique and collectible books. CONDITION : The binding is sturdy and the pages are clean and crisp which isn’t that bad for the books age. However, there is some worn areas to the hardcover, especially in the front crease in the front cover. There is a tear in the fabric that is not all the way through, but a small rip has begun near the bottom. The edges or corners show signs of worn areas, but there is no significant damage. Just your average wear and tear, which gives the book its character for being so old. There is no weather or water damage, there is no fading to the colors on the pages but the edges of the pages have started to yellow a bit, which is natural due to age. The book feels nicely broken in And can flex a bit which is natural since it is considered a pocketbook. The good news is that the hardcopy is not curled or suffering from shrinkage or any heat damage from the sun. All of the pages are intact and there are no missing pages or torn pages. There are no previous owner initials or names written in the book. There are also no notes written on any other pages. But there is a price written in pencil on the back cover on the inside, which is very small marked in pencil which is marked: “ .70 “ (cents). You can absolutely see this in the photos and any other things mentioned above. None of the pages are loose and all of the pages seem tight with the spine and are still bound together pretty well. This is a hardcover copy of "The Herbalist" by Joseph E. Meyer, published by Hammond Book Co in Indiana. It contains information on herbs with possible alternative medicinal uses, as well as scientific and medicinal possibilities. This edition is likely a first edition and is an original copy. But I have also read that the Indiana Botanical Gardens were the publishers to print the first edition, But I’ve also have read that the Indiana Botanical Gardens and the Indiana Book Co. are the same publishers. There are a few different colors of the hardcover, but the same exact version and edition . The color of this one is dark yellow or a light orange.
