Willard Whited, star witness for the State of New Jersey during the famous Lindbergh trial which resulted in the conviction of Bruno Richard Hauptmann, was ordered last night (February 21st) by Governor Harold Hoffman of New Jersey to be taken into custody and held for questioning. It was Whited who swore during the trial that it was Hauptmann whom he saw prowling around in an adjacent woods near the Lindbergh estate, a few days before the fatal kidnapping.Photo measures 5 x 7inches.
