Lieutenant General William S. Knudson, chairman, Automotive Industry Committee, in announcing the symbol, said: "The old car suggests the past, the new car the present, and the atomic device, the future. The underlying theme is the past, present and future use of energy by the automotive industry for peaceful purposes." The celebration, commemorating the industry's 50th anniversary and Detroit's 150th anniversary, is to be opened by unveiling ceremonies of a 65-foot structural reproduction of the symbol, and will continue through June 9. The Jubilee's official symbol was designed by Radebaugh, nationally-owned Detroit artist. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo Is dated 1946.
