Description: 1960 Holton Revelation Model 48 Professional Trumpet, great player, ultrasonic cleaned, very good condition. All new corks, pads, and valve springs. Valve ports precisely aligned using premium Valentino quiet pads. All slides and valves work very well and just as they should. I had one very small dent removed from the upper bell crook, and there was a slight crease in the bell flare that has been removed. Otherwise the horn looks like it has had no dents. This horn is a great and surprisingly efficient player, with a rich, full tone that will definitely project from the large rose brass bell when pushed. Intonation is very good from pedal tones up through High C, my upper range. No doubt much further if you have the chops. The horn seals and plays well with Hetman’s number 2 valve oil. I cannot overstate how easy it is to play, very open, free blowing and easy to play for long stretches. I have used it over the past few weeks in both lead and section roles, it works very, very well, whatever your style and requirements are. Trent Austin refers to these Revelation Holtons as "the poor man's Martin Committee". Others on the various trumpet forums have said that the Model 48 is a better playing and sounding horn than the Martin Committees...I can't say as I have never had the privilege of playing a Committee. Play a legend at a fraction of the cost of a Martin Committee Deluxe in similar condition! The finish is apparently original lacquer that looks good overall but has some spots as shown in photos. Many had a reddish tint when I obtained the horn, I wanted to be sure that there was no serious rot etc. so I carefully polished them down to good solid metal and then preserved them with Renaissance wax to slow future return. I did not do so on the valve body as I don’t want skin on raw brass unless necessary. Price reflects the less than perfect appearance, though most will never realize the finish issues, even the band mate sitting next to you. Overall it’s a very good looking horn. My go-to instrument repair professional said to ignore the bit of red and enjoy for many years. Includes a Conn 7C mouthpiece in good condition and what appears to be the original very deluxe case in very good survivor condition. See photos and ask any questions.
