Description: This auction is for a photo of Joe "Tex" Gardner launching his 1962 409 Chevy Bel Air named "NORTHWIND" at MASON-DIXON Dragway in Boonsboro,Maryland in 1967 . The "NORTHWIND" was named after a Naval Ice Breaker that he was stationed on when he was in the Navy . Joe's friend Bill Jenkins helped with this car . This car was sold and turned into an Oval Track Racer and subsequently scrapped . This photo is made from the original slide dated JULY,1967.
