If you use your personal actual measurements, you should always figure needing two inches extra for breathing room. Label- The dress does not have a label. The hanging store tag is what identifies the designer as Marie Leavell. Closes with back plastic zipper on the dress. The jacket closes with 2 large fabric covered buttons and bound buttonholes. A snap on the waist and the neckline are also on the jacket. Fabric is a medium weight material. Most likely a rayon. It is a olive green base color with red and black. It is slightly reflective, which made it hard to photograph. The dress and jacket are both fully lined. ConditionI show 2 photos of a 1/4 inch hole on the side pleat edge of the skirt. It took me a while to discern that this was a, all the way through the fabric, hole. The lining underneath helps it to not stand out. It is not the kind of fabric that wants to tear more. This dress has its original store tags and I do not think it has been worn. What Diane Likes About This DressMarie Leavell is not as well known or appreciated as she should be. Most of this is due to her untimely accidental passing at the age of 49. Up until then, she had been a unstoppable fashion force and it is our loss that we did not get to see more of her work. I do believe this dress is after her passing when her son took over her business. It is a tribute to Marie's legacy. I like the abstract pattern and color combination very much. Parts of the pattern almost looks like a martini glass, which give it a bit of whimsy. It is mesmerizing. Leavell was well known and had a devoted following, especially in Dallas. This is a perfect mix of trendy and conservative. If Capote vs The Swans was set in Texas, this would be an outfit we would most surely have seen on Babe. But back to Marie. She is in the ranks of other talented, savvy, and creative women who started their clothing business in their kitchen. (Think Jessica McClintock) Marie started her business during the Great Depression and grew it into a hugely successful business. She competed directly with larger competitors, like Nieman Marcus. After her death, her son continued her business through the 1990s. As a mom of boys, I really like the thought of Marie's son carrying on her legacy. With this ensemble, he did her proud. “Style is the perfection of a point of view.” Richard Eberhart “A great dress can make you remember what is beautiful about life.” Rachel Roy This dress and jacket can ship ground advantage or priority mail. Both options are offered. I am always happy to combine shipping. I have a large amount of vintage clothing and am always adding new pieces.
