Description: A car ahead of it’s time, Jaguar had taken the technology from their D-Type race cars and incorporated it into the production E-Type. Debuting at the 1961 Geneva Autoshow, Enzo Ferrari fell in love, calling it “the most beautiful car ever made.” The flowing body lines start at the hood with the headlights that were covered for not only aesthetics but also aerodynamics. Four wheel disc brakes were implemented along with independent suspension for an unparalleled ride. The cars performed well on the track and had impressive 0-60 times at 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. The first significant up-grade occurred in October 1964 with the launch of the 4.2-liter version. Along with the bigger, torquier engine came a more user-friendly gearbox with synchromesh on first gear, and a superior Lockheed brake servo. Apart from ‘4.2’ badging, the car’s external appearance was unchanged but under the skin there were numerous detail improvements, chiefly to the electrical and cooling systems, and to the seating arrangements. The top speed remained unchanged, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine was improved acceleration. Accolades included Sports Car International hailing the E-Type as the best car of the 60’s and the third greatest car of all time only falling behind the Ferrari 250 GTO and the McLaren F1.This example was delivered new on the 31st of May 1967 to Milton O. Lustnaur by Jaguar cars, New York. Ordered in the striking and very desirable color combination of Carmen Red and Black leather interior. A comprehensive restoration was performed over a 9 year period and completed in around 2016 with a reported cost of over $200,000. Highly detailed from top to bottom and still showing extremely well today. Matching numbers example accompanied by the Jaguar Heritage certificate to document options and numbers. The operating Handbook is also included as well as the original toolkit, jack, and spare. This E type runs and drives amazing and garners attention wherever it goes.
