1979-1981 GRETSCH DRUMS 8x12 gloss black ebony concert tom incomplete drum shell

Description: Oh Boy !! You are looking at a used vintage GRETSCH DRUMS 8x12 concert tom drum shell. First and foremost,Someone asked if the two shells I have on eBay fit modern heads that will spin, and if the shells are in round. Here is my answer: Thank you for asking. I do a lot of Rogers, but not much Gretsch. I thought Gretsch of this era fit heads, and it was the 1960s 6 ply that were tight. So I just checked.The 10x14 spins a Remo pinstripe and even a Sonor head, on the top, and fits. The bottom side fits those heads, but a bit tight.The 8x12 not so lucky. Remo heads and Evans I tried would not even go on tight or at all. So that one needs those Aquarian heads made for oversize Gretsch. I did not have one to try, so I m assuming they might work. According to the Rob Cook with John Sheridan Rebeats Gretsch Drum Book on page 90: It has a second sequence serial number #116453. It has Stop Sign Badge #3, Dates to 1979-1981. It is an incomplete parts shell. No parts remain except the stop sign GRETSCH badge, black ebony wrap, paper label and grommetThere are scratches and scuffs in the wrap with no fade problems. There are no cracks in the wrap. It has silver paint inside which is still mostly clean.The bearing edges might have a small ding or two, so I'm going to mention it. I think this is a six ply shell. The Gretsch Book says it is. The size is 8x12. That is a 12 inch head, 8 inch deep shell. It is made with no reinforcement rings. It needs one five hole 12 inch rim. This is a five lug drum shell, one sided. Please remember, parts are missing, it's just a shell with badge, paper label and grommet. The stop sign badge remains, and has not been off the drum. There are no tone control holes on a one headed concert tom. This drum shell will be a good project, for a player.Photos show the flaws, and are part of the description. The seam is not lifting. The drum shell is ready to go, and you can further do what you want to it. This is a project, but might be a nice sounding addition to someone's player's kit. This shell itself weighs 1 pounds and 15.6 ounces. Nice and light. If you can use this shell, don’t miss out.We left any further detailing or cleaning to you.
