Description: Done after the work of Italian High Renaissance painter, Sebastiano del Piombo (1485-1547) titled “Portrait of a Woman” c. 1512. The original now resides in the Uffizi Gallery Art museum in Florence, Italy. Sebastiano del Piombo was Venetian born and trained. In 1511 he moved to Rome where he became a major portraitist and painter of religious subjects. He was a protégé of Michelangelo, who significantly influenced his art and also worked alongside Raphael. In 1531 he became the Keeper of the Seal to the Papacy, which is how he got the nickname del Piombo. This lovely 19th century unsigned reproduction was masterfully hand painted on board with exquisite attention to every last detail from the original. Not only was this expertly painted but it is still very much in great condition! There is some wear on the edges, likely from a previous frame, as well as a very small chip to the bottom right side. In no way does that detract from this piece at all. This is unframed and I believe it’s beautiful as is but if you want to, an ornate gold frame would only amplify the beauty this unique piece of history has to offer! Measurements: 7 1/4”x 6 1/4”
