Description: First American Edition of I, Libertine by Frederick R. Ewing (Theodore Sturgeon). Written by Theodore Sturgeon under the pseudonym Frederick R. Ewing. Jean Shepherd, a radio host in the 1950s, was jaded with how best-selling books were determined. In satire against this, Shepherd created the premise of I, Libertine and encouraged his audience to request the book at their local bookstore. This hoax quickly gained popularity. Shepherd and Sturgeon came to an agreement for Sturgeon to actually write the novel which allegedly went on to truly be a best seller. This copy has some minor tattering and rubbing at the dust jacket edges and corners. Original $2.75 price intact. Stamp of two stars in the top right corner of the FFEP.
