Description: 2-OZ PAINTED LADY Runner Bean Seeds / Bi-Color Flowers / ornamental / edible landscape a.k.a. Bi-Color Runners; Phaseolus coccineusGermination rate 97%; tested 07/2022 - A real show-stopper, incredibly beautiful bi-color flowers. - First introduced to gardeners in the early 1800s - Excellent centerpiece for any garden. - Huge Beans are good for freezing, canning and as a dry bean. - Sow couple weeks after the last frost, when ground temperature is 50F+- 65-85 days- tolerate heat well Growing Tips: - Direct sowing after last frost, or start seeds indoor three weeks before the last frost. Soak the seeds overnight first. If indoor temperature is 70F or higher, seeds should germinate within a week. I use heating pad and grow light to speed up germination and ensure healthy seedling growth.- Prefer full sun; fertile well drained soil; space seedlings 6-12" apart; rows 3' apart. Or space them out in small hills/mounds, each hill should be 18" wide and 12" deep, with four seedlings planted per hill. You can also sow 8-12 seeds per hill and thin them out later. Crowded vines actually yield lesser harvest.- The vine is vigorous and needs to be supported via fence, trellis, arbor, teepee, meshed wire, cattle panel..etc. One year I had few vines climbed up the Dawn Redwood tree and the tree is dotted with hyacinth bean flowers even at 12' tree top level.
