Description: For sale is an original antique Filipino Moro Kampilan sword from the Philippines. The barb is intact and in good shape. The single-edge blade is in good shape for its age but has some rust at the handle end. It comes with its original scabbard that is tied together. The scabbard may need some restoration work. It has a clean split on the back side from the handle end down to the reed/canning strapping at the tip end. The split is so clean that if I pinch it the split line nearly goes away. Both the sword and scabbard do not show any signs of being reconditioned or restored. I posted photographs of the sword with two different backgrounds to show its unique condition and details. The sword was purchased by my grandfather during his pacific US Navy tours in the early 1900s. The actual age of the sword is unknown but I believe it is several hundred years old. Details:Blade 28 1/2" LongGuard 6" WideHandle 10 1/2" LongOverall 39" Long Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The geometry of the blade is somewhat unique. It is wider at the tip than at the base. It is a single edge sword; the knife edge is very sharp. It feels light and maneuverable for a heavy, long blade. Dew to the geometry of the blade (wide at tip and thinner at the handle) the scabbard is open at the handle end and along the bottom edge down to the reed/canning strap near the tip.
