4 vintage german grand tour fine bone china memento souvenir demitasse tea cups

Description: the four these are from mid-20th century an were town souvenir grade porcelain cups. for being this, they are really delicate bone china and are in very good vintage shape. the only thing i am able to identify is there are places on the gold rims of the cups where the gold in nicked. however, it could be that the porcelain had some nicks and then was covered with gold finish since the nicks don't appear to result in a loss of gold. you, of course, be the judge. you can see an example in the second image. otherwise, i can find no issues. this is actually quite a littel intriguing set of 4 souvenir cups from different parts of germany. i can figure out partial stories for all of them. they are all a fine bone china porcelain finished in gold. and a squat demitasse size. all are footed. one of the cups is dated 1950 to 1974. so if these were gathered during the same trip as a sort of grand tour of germany, that puts all of the cups at the mid-century period. by the cup cup 01 of 04: memento from tegernsee, bavaria cup depicts the coat of arms of the town. maker: i am not able to find a single maker's mark. it is possible, *possible* that this was made by jlmenau porzellanfabrik because they did are germany and did a lot gold against cobalt blue (using actual cobalt). that's my best guess as to the possible maker. dimensions: the mouth diameter is 2 7/8". the rim is 2" away from the surface on which the cup rests. from the outer most part of the handle to the opposite rim is 3 1/2". condition: this is one of the cups that has some pitting at the rim. however, that pitting seems to be under the gold finish, so i am thinking it came out of manufacture that way and then was decorated. cup 02 of 04: memento from weinstadt, langenlois cup depicts town square. maker: this cup is by lilien porzellan of austria, a factory that started in 1960 (at least the use of the brand name) and is still around. dimensions: the mouth diameter is 3". the rim is 2 1/2" away from the surface on which the cup rests. from the outer most part of the handle to the opposite rim is 3 1/2". condition: good vintage condition. about lilien porzellan (from: buyingselling.eu/company/lilien-austria-gmbh-porzellan-fur-hotel-und-gastronomie) if austria's gastronomy and hotel industry is considered an international benchmark for service quality and hospitality, then the hotel porcelain brand lilien also has a small share in this success story. whether inn, traditional restaurant or traditional café - no local porcelain brand is as well established in austrian tourism as lilies. the origin of this traditional brand is inextricably linked to the production site in wilhelmsburg in lower austria. although the porcelain production in wilhelmsburg came to an end in 1997 - after 202 years of history - a new chapter was opened for lilies. under the roof of the czech premium producer «benedikt group», lilien is a competent part of a brand center virate, which consists of the top brands «gebrüder benedikt», «langenthal» and «lilien». massive investments in the production site in dvory in the czech republic, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the world-famous spa town of karlovy vary, where goethe already cured his ailments, show that innovation is just as important as tradition. it was only in 2009 that a new kiln was purchased, which not only guarantees the highest quality of porcelain, but also works according to the most modern aspects of resource conservation. a total of around two hundred motivated employees manufacture the high-quality porcelain parts. demanding skills, such as painting and decorating, are sometimes even done by hand. thus, lilien's claim to be a high-quality premium hotel porcelain that enables its customers to spoil guests with excellent table settings has changed absolutely nothing. thousands of satisfied customers in the austrian gastronomy and hotel industry as well as internationally testify to this every day. cup 03 of 04: memento from kirch-göns cup depicts hüttenberger tract or «hüttenberger costume» (more on that below) maker: i cannot find any maker's marks. dimensions: the mouth diameter is 3". the rim is 1 1/2" away from the surface on which the cup rests. from the outer most part of the handle to the opposite rim is 3 3/4". condition: good vintage condition about hüttenberger costume the hüttenberg region was blessed with fertile soils. in the past century, women could afford dresses made of precious fabrics and splendid ribbon trimmings. hüttenberg is located between the cities of giessen, butzbach and wetzlar. the traditional costume was worn there until august 2011, when the last real traditional costume wearer died. on weekdays the women wore headscarves white and black, or blue printed, or thicker woolen scarves that were mostly checked. the band hood or maratz was worn on the festive days. the ribbon hood consisted of a white three-part linen hood, which was wrapped with black silk or moirè ribbons. the maratz also had a ribbon loop on the back. for the lord's supper the women wore a very elaborate hood. this white starched bonnet consisted of fine cotton batiste or fine tulle lace with embroidery (depending on age). it was worn over the white linen bonnet. a matching white ribbon was tied around the hood so that the loop ends fell down over the back. the hairstyle was the so-called snitch. the hair (plait) was put together on the front head plate. a hairpin made of horn, bone or silver was passed through the braids to enhance it. in everyday life the women wore a jacket made of hard-wearing cotton fabric, printed in blue or black. the matching apron is also made from the same material. on feast days, the jacket was made of silk, velvet or brocade in the colors green, blue, purple, brown, gray and black. the cut was very simple in contrast to earlier times when the so-called button mop was still worn. the button puss was later only put on for weddings or the evening meal. the jacket was decorated with silk or press tape and lace on the cuffs. There were also sequins and strings of glass beads to round off the shine. petticoats in the waistband placed in many small folds, the length depending on the location between 12 to 18 cm with the exception of the area that was covered by the apron. the colors were green, blue, wool white and until the wedding also red. upper skirts in the same style as the petticoats. for sundays and holidays made of half scarf, ladies scarf or even velvet in the colors green, blue, purple, brown, gray and black. skirts and petticoats were trimmed with braids and silk ribbons above the hem of the skirt. upper skirts were also decorated with sequins and strings of glass beads (see jackets). the apron was made of the same color as the motzen. at the turn of the century, the aprons were also trimmed on the sides. the apron was slightly shorter than the skirt so that the skirt trim could still be seen to advantage. the waistband of the apron was kept smooth in the middle and a small number of folds on the side parts. the festive attire also included the splendid apron ribbon and the breast slip. in hüttenberg, the apron ribbon was an elaborate decorative piece made of wide silk, press velvet, or moirè ribbon with silver fringes and sequin embroidery, which was only laid and pinned, not tied. the matching breast slip was also placed in the shoulder area. white undershirt, knee-length, cut in a T-shape, made of linen or cotton. the sleeve length could be different, mostly they were turned up to the elbow. plenty of embroidery in the shoulder area for holidays, including in the neckline. above that, a lace-up made of cloth or velvet was worn. a very thick bulge was attached to the bodice to hold the heavy skirts. some women wore collars under their camisoles. the collar was placed over the shoulders and the front ends covered the breast opening of the bodice. there was a stand-up collar at the neckline. elaborately crafted collars used to be part of sunday and holiday clothing. white, long underpants with lace trim. knitted black or, for young women, blue stockings with gusset. it used to be available with a white gusset. the women also wore dresser shoes or black leather shoes with velvet trimmings. on festive days or for weddings, the shoes were decorated with a shoe slip. in the past, men wore the three-cornered hat on ceremonial occasions, which was replaced by the cylinder from 1880. the so-called mäsje was also carried to the pub in the evening. it was embroidered from velvet or set with pearls. boys and boys also wore fur hats (similar to those in the schwalm). these fur hats had a light fur trim, the cap itself was made of green velvet or cloth with gold braid attached. there were also these hats made entirely of black fur. the pointed cap was also widespread, made of light yarn, very long, decorated with a tassel at the end and knitted with pattern stripes. younger men wore fitted, short, dark blue, double-breasted buttoned jackets. there were also some in the same style up to the waist. in the past, you wore a sleeveless vest over your shirt, often two. the first one was made of laundry fabric, tight-fitting and buttoned down at the front. then came a blue cloth vest or made of atlas silk, embroidered with a stand-up collar and buttoned in two rows. Later there were also all black single-breasted buttoned vests. until around 1880, people wore the so-called church skirt made of dark blue cloth with a stand-up or turn-down collar. this was then replaced by the black frock coat. the smock was the most common item of clothing for men. Very early white down to the knees, later blue down to half the thigh and with black embroidery on the shoulders and cuffs. for special occasions, a large black silk scarf was worn which was tied under the shirt collar. this was later replaced by a black bow tie or tie. On weekdays one wore a blue or red cloth. in earlier times people wore so-called knee breeches made of linen (white for special occasions and blue for work), black manchester velvet or leather. these pants were closed at the bottom by means of five buttons and a metal buckle. in addition, there were so-called wrap pants where the stockings were pulled over and fastened with the stocking strap. later, at the end of the 19th century, long trousers came up. black cloth trousers for special occasions, manchester trousers for weekdays. suspenders came on top of the long trousers. they were decorated with tapestry embroidery for festivals and fairs. the shirt was made of linen, knee-length, finely scanned and embroidered on the shoulders and cuffs. Either with a turn-down collar or with a stand-up collar. knitted stockings, white or natural color, were worn with knee breeches, black for ceremonial occasions. the shoe for the breeches was a flat leather buckle shoe. the large square brass buckle with a rosette pattern and copper inlay was a special decoration. cup 04 of 04: memento from frankfort cup depicts town houses. maker: according to porcelainmarksandmore.com/germany/bavaria/kueps-02/index.php, the maker's mark for the frankfort cup is for porzellanfabrik wilhelm rittirsch (more on them below). dimensions: the mouth diameter is 2 3/4". the rim is 1 1/2" away from the surface on which the cup rests. from the outer most part of the handle to the opposite rim is 3 1/2". condition: good vintage condition. about the wilhelm rittirsch factory (from: figurines-sculpture.com/dresden-art-mark-with-initials-wr-and-cursive-device.html & tvthek.orf.at/history/Niederoesterreich/13557902/Lilienporzellan-Produktion-wurde-eingestellt/13967228) the wilhelm pittirsch factory was first established in post-war bavaria, germany in a town called kups in 1950 and survived for 24 years, going out of business in 1974. this company, like many others not from dresden used the term «dresden-art as a marketing term, to try to take advantage of the demand for dresden style products after the city and surrounding area had been destroyed by the allied bombers. not much else is known about this little factory. marker's and/or other marks see main description section. dimensions see main description section. condition see main description section. the fine print the images are the majority of the listing description, so take a look at them closely. shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price. i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so. trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically. shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
