Antique illustrated booklet of FAIRBANKS' STANDARD RAILROAD, HAY, COAL, PLATFORM AND COUNTER SCALES, manufactured by E & T Fairbanks & Co. in St Johnsbury, Vermont. A light orange paper cover, size is 6" by 4" with 32 pages. The pages inside are still bound with the original sewn string. Although we did not see a publication date, this booklet came out of a large collection of business ephemera from Carhart & Curd, a hardware store in Macon, Georgia that ceased business long before 1900 and most of the paperwork group was circa 1870-1880. The printers of this booklet were Baker & Godwin, No 1 Spruce St., NY. The booklet is full of small illustrations from engravings showing the various scales and accompanied by the sizes available along with testimonials about the superior accuracy and quality of the Fairbanks scales. All pages intact and the paper shows no brittleness or deterioration. But this is not a reprint. Pages have slight small dots of toning from age, The front and back covers are in good condition. We ship paper items in stiff packaging to keep them safe in the post.
