Description: Antique 1890's Kut Hing Swatow Pewter Tankard. Features etched Dragon design and solid pewter handle. Measures 4 1/8" tall with a base diameter of 2 7/8. From end of handle to end of rim is 4". Holds approximately 10 oz. Good antique condition with a few minor dents around the rim. Could use a nice polishing. Swatow (now called Shantou, means "mountain head") is a city on the east coast of Guandong that was a very important port (prefecture) city in China during the 1800s. Kut Hing appears to be the most prominent Swatow pewter smith at that time. Please review ALL photos for detailed description.
