His repertoire included the roles of the Demon, Orso in Solovyov’s Cordelia, Evgeny Onegin, Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Robert (Iolanta), Fabio (The Poet), Prince Serebryany (Prince Silver by G. Kazachenko) , Troekurov (“Dubrovsky”), Gryaznoy (“The Tsar’s Bride”), Don Juan (“Don Juan”), Marcel (“La Bohème”), Mazepa (“Mazepa” by P. Tchaikovsky), Gianciotto (“Francesca da Rimini” E . Napravnik) and others. Since 1911, Yakovlev conducted teaching activities in St. Petersburg at the music courses of G. Zaslavsky. In 1918–19 he was director of the State Opera in Petrograd. On the stage of the Mikhailovsky Theater he resumed the production of the opera Romeo and Juliet.
