Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ANTIQUE CLEAR CUT ART GLASS FLORAL INTAGLIO PATTERN CRYSTAL TOOTHPICK HOLDERA beautiful piece of art glass in the form of a lovely little octagon shaped toothpick holder. I suspect that this piece might have been made by the Cambridge Glass Company, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio, but I am unsure. The pattern or style of the decoration is known as “Intaglio,” but the actual maker and pattern are unknown to me. Regardless, this is a very neat piece. First, it was made as a piece of blown glass with a floral pattern in relief molded into the piece, then the exterior of the piece was frosted (etched to a satin finish with acid), then the entire exterior of the piece was cut, faceted and polished to leave the frosted floral pattern in relief for a beautiful effect. Finally, a very skilled craftsperson wheel cut the two large flower blossoms onto the piece. A true piece of art glass and it is amazing to me how much labor was put into such a small piece. It is a very high-quality piece of hand- made pressed crystal or clear colored glass. This piece has been part of my personal toothpick holder collection since 2017. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” & “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. While I don’t see this exact piece, very similar patterns and shapes to this piece are pictured on page 110 in the 1970 book The Cambridge Glass Co. Cambridge, Ohio: A Reprint Of Parts Of Old Company Catalogs Book I by Mary, Lyle and Lynn Welker. Even though there are other pieces pictured here that are made in this exact same shape, style, and manner, I am uncomfortable attributing this piece to the Cambridge Glass Company because of the shape of the piece at the base. This piece could even be a cut down cologne bottle, horseradish bottle, or a large shaker. Regardless, I enjoyed this piece as part of my toothpick holder collection for many years. If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about toothpick holders and collecting them at their website.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. It is in excellent to near mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There is one tiny flea bite to one of the vertical ribs around the body and one to one of the points at the top rim. To me this is very minor and really just something I expect to see on a 110+ year old piece of glass. Otherwise, there are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 2” (5.1 cm) across the widest part of the body and sits about 2.5” (6.4 cm) off the table. Approximate WeightAbout 4.75 ounces (166 grams).
