Description: Antique HAVILAND & CO Limoges France CHICKENS Rooster Bird Charger Hanging Wall Plate Plaque 12 3/8" Exquisite and extremely rare 19th Century Haviland & Co large charger plate made in Limoges, France.Decorated with three hand painted chickens and a heavy gold jeweled border. This piece is an absolute beauty!Marked on the base with the green underglaze double underlined H & Co mark that was used in between 1876 and 1886.Measures approximately 12 3/8" in diameter.Hanging wire included. Condition: Despite some signs of age and minor flaws, the condition of this plate is quite impressive considering its age. There is a small hairline on the back of the plate by the rim which is not visible from the front of the plate (see picture # 10). Gold has an aged patina. Various marks from age or use to be expected. Some scuffing is hard to notice in the pictures. There is a small round gap in the porcelain which has the appearance of a cigarette mark on the top of the plate (see picture #7). This may have possibly been caused from some gold being chipped off a long time ago. Other than the mentioned flaws, there are no other chips, cracks, cracking or repairs. Comes as is and as seen.
