We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders UNLESS BUYER SPECIFICALLY REQUESTS THIS AND WE ARE ABLE to provide an insurance estimate. It is becoming increasingly difficult to insure international orders and the price can exceed the price of the item, which can negate the sale. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.Last summer an old wooden box showed up in Butte, Montana, with some of these little old glass show globes in it. They had been boxed up decades ago, where they sat without seeing the light of day for who knows how long. Butte is where the original Anaconda mine was which supplied copper to the Anaconda Copper Mining Co (ACM) smelters in Anaconda. I believe these little show globes were on display, maybe in the business office of the Anaconda Copper Mining Co's old smelter works in ANACONDA, MONTANA or maybe in the pioneer days of the Mining Museum on top of the richest hill on early, old Butte, Montana. This vessel is referred to as an 'INVERTED SHOW GLOBE', and depending on the need, these were used to display medicines, herbs, powders, dried flowers, minerals and mining specimens, organics, small mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians in formaldehyde, etc., and would sit in an old cabinet, in a museum, on a counter, in a display place of a business where they could be readily seen. I am not a geologist so I don't know much about the mineral samples in this little globe but I am a bottle collector and can tell that this show globe is WELL OVER A CENTURY OLD as it glows when put under a black light, showing it has manganese in the glass, used as a decolorizing agent, which DATES IT TO PRE - 1914. But to refine this date even more, this show globe was hand Blown Into a Mold (BIM) and the wide flared lip was hand finished with a lipping tool. It was blown into a turn mold, a mold that the glass blower spun so that the centrifugal force thinned out the glass, made it paper thin, then left it with a beautiful translucent sheen, the ultimate finish, perfect for displaying products in it in the purest form. This was how early glass vessels were created UP UNTIL ABOUT 1903, when the Owen's Automatic Bottle Machine came into production. Anyway, of these that were discovered, all held different types of minerals/rocks/sample that I assume were mined in Montana back in the 1800's when mining was the mainstay of Montana. This is one of them, check it out! Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We put our 30+ years of experience in antiques to use in describing every item we list.
