Description: PARAGON SWORDSHOME OF TRADITIONAL WEAPONS FROM THE INDONESIAN ARCHIPELAGOwww.paragonswords.com Antique, very large Lombok Kala Rau, luk 11 keris, keris - Lombok abad XIX-era (early 19th century) – Wilah with the rare Kala Rau dapur and a striking version of pamor Wusing Wutah – Bebatahan warangka of the rare and beautiful Timoho pelet Nyamel wood – Silver pendok with 3 dimensional chased floral decorations, set with 4 large rubies – Bobondolan hilt on a silver angkop. This antique, and very large Lombok Kala Rau, luk 11 keris dates from the Lombok abad XIX-era (early 19th century). This very large antique Lombok keris measures 76cm and is a true masterpiece in every aspect. To begin, the keris is housed in a magnificent Bebatahan warangka of the rare and beautiful Timoho pelet Nyamel wood. Dark veins cross the blonde colored background. The gandar is covered with a silver pendok with 3-demensional chased floral motifs, set with 4 large rubies. The top of the keris is adorned with a Bobondolan hilt (also of Timoho Nyamel wood) which is set on a silver angkop. The spectacle continues when the large keris is pulled from the warangka. The keris measures no less than 62cm. The impressive wilah is forged to Kala Rau dapur with 11 luk (waves) and an impressive version of pamor Wusing Wutah. Kala Rau embodies an evil spirit from Balinese mythology—a bodiless entity represented only by a head. His malevolent intent was to drink from Tirta Amertha, the water of eternal life reserved solely for the gods. Dewi Ratih, aware of Kala Rau's sinister plot, promptly informed Lord Vishnu. Acting swiftly, Vishnu decapitated Kala Rau with his discus. Unfortunately, Kala Rau's head touched Tirta Amertha, granting him eternal life. Seeking revenge, the head pursued the goddess Ratih, resulting in lunar eclipses. The narrative of Kala Rau imparts a moral lesson about thoughtful decision-making and its ensuing repercussions. Sometimes, seemingly advantageous actions can yield unforeseen outcomes. This moral tale underscores the significance of prudence and contemplation before acting, alongside understanding the ramifications on oneself and others. Furthermore, the keris is forged with an impressive version of pamor Wusing Wutah. I had the wilah professionally and ritually treated with warangan in Indonesia. The near white pamor now contrasts beautifully against the jet-black background of the wilah Characteristics:Dapur: Kala Rau – luk 11Pamor: Wusing WutahTangguh: Lombok abad XIX (early 19th century)Warangka: BebatahanKayu: Timoho pelet Nyamel Dimensions:Total length: 76cm.Length of the Keris: 62cm.Length of the Wilah: 46,5cm.
