Description: Antique Pre 1930’s Native American Turquoise 925 Silver Pendant Necklace 24 In. I think this was part of a bracelet that broke. I turned it into a pendant and added a 24 inch thicker herringbone necklace. This could be much older. Searching museum Native American jewelry pieces this looks to predate 1930’s styles but it’s hard to tell exact date. No Sterling stamp or makers mark. Seems to be made by hand without modern tools. Native American Jewelry: In general, Native American artists began using the sterling stamp in the 1950s and 1960s. So unmarked Native American items may indicate production in the first half of the 1900’s. Real Native/Southwest Jewelry typically has the highest quality turquoise along with silver. I test turquoise with acetone and a scratch test and silver with an acid test. Howlite would bleed blue with an acetone test.
