Description: ANTIQUE RARE FOLK ART DOLLS HAND MADE & PAINTED, STITCHED FACES CORN HUSK+ 1800s. IF THESE DOLLS COULD ONLY TALK…IMAGINE THE STORIES THEY COULD TELL. THEY WERE MADE LOVINGLY BY SOMEONE IN A BYGONE ERA AND MAINTAIN THEIR ALLURE AND COLLECTIBILITY TODAY. IF YOU ARE A COLLECTOR, LOOK NO FURTHER. I PURCHASED THESE FROM AN ESTATE IN HILTON HEAD ISLAND. MAY BE GULLAH MADE, PROBABLY SOUTHERN ORIGINS. UNSURE OF HISTORY. MADE FROM CORN HUSK, PALMETTO FIBER HUSK, CLOTH/RAG, PAPER. I AM NOT A DOLL EXPERT, BUT THESE APPEAR SPECIAL. THE SMALLER 10” DOLL IS A MALE SEMINOLE DOLL WITH LONG SLEEVES, FAR RARER THAN FEMALE DOLLS. THERE IS DETERIORATING FABRIC CLOTHING. NOTE BELT AND NECKERCHIEF. FABULOUS EXAMPLE. THE TALLER 12 1/2” DOLL HAS THREE LAYERS OF CLOTHING, 2 NECKERCHIEFS, A DOUBLE STRAND OF COLORED BEADS, SEWN FINGERS AND TOES, STITCHED FACIAL FEATURES. ONE EYEBALL HAS UNRAVELED WITH LOOSE THREADS ATTACHED. SHE HAS ONLY ONE SANDAL. THE 13” DOLL IS A REPRESENTATION OF A COLONIAL NURSE, PROBABLY CIVIL WAR ERA. LATE 1800s. HAND PAINTED PAPER FACE, CORN HUSK BODY. AMAZING. SHE IS MISSING ONE CUFF. THE NURSES CAP IS 3 DIMENSIONAL, BUT IS FLATTENED FROM STORAGE. THE NURSE HAS A FABULOUS RED CROSS ‘I SERVE’ PIN ON THE NECKERCHIEF. FABULOUS. THEY ALL 3 NEED LOVE AND TLC! IMPERFECT AND WONDERFUL AND IMPORTANT. SEE ALL PHOTOS FOR DETAILS AND ZOOM FOR CONFIRMATION OF CONDITION FOR YOURSELF. ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE PURCHASE. THERE ARE SIGNS OF USE, ZOOM. THE SIGNS OF USE ARE ACTUALLY AESTHETICALLY APPEALING AND ENHANCE THE DESIRABILITY. EMAIL ANY QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS. THIS IS SOLD AS A LOT OF 3.
