Description: This antique Robeson Anvil Hammered SHUR-EDGE No. 973 kitchen chef’s butcher knife is a rare find for collectors and cooking enthusiasts alike. It remains in excellent condition. Crafted in the United States with a carbon steel blade and a hammered finish, this knife is both durable and aesthetically pleasing. The hickory handle is in excellent condition without cracks, chips or discoloration. The blade remains sharp at its tip and cutting edge. The knife measures 12.5 inches in length. The Robeson Anvil logo appears on the Blade between the words “Anvil” and “Hammered”. Also on the Blade is engraved “ No. 973”. Imprinted into the Wood handle grip on one side appears “Shur-Edge”. The Carbon Steel Blade’s Shaft extends through the full length of the Handle, sandwiched between the two Wood Handle Grips and secured with three Brass Rivets. Robeson was known for producing top quality knives. Founded in 1875 by Millard Robeson, obsessed with producing the very best quality products, the Robeson Cutlery Company initially produced only Kitchen Knives. Expanding to as many as eight manufacturing sites within the State of New York, the business transitioned to production of top quality Pocket Knives. Robeson, recognized for its uncompromising quality, was considered one of the best cutlery producers anywhere from about 1910 into the 1930’s.
