Description: This brass and copper wall mount lantern was made by Adlake – the Adams & Westlake Company in Chicago. It is complete with all original parts except for the mounting plate screws which appear to be a later style. The lantern measures 11 ¼” including the Star Light glass chimney. The wall mount piece measures 3”. The lantern slides in and out of the wall mounting plate which makes it easy to insert a new candle in the base of the lantern. This type of lantern was used in rail cars, particularly U.S. Mail cars, as it was safer than a kerosene lantern. Very good condition, Star Light glass chimney is intact with no chips. Insert a candle, light the wick, and have a functioning source of light.
