It's a great looking shelf piece. I don't know if anyone would actually want to make ice cream with it but I suspect it would still work. The bucket is 100% solid even with the bottom metal ring missing. Again, a nice primitive shelf piece. It does crank very smoothly and the tab is present to lock the cranking head into place.
