Description: This real photo postcard (RPPC) shows a landscape perspective at Bath, Placer County, California, in the early years of the 20th century. Looking closely toward the left side of the image, one can see wooden fencing, presumably to keep some kind of livestock. Bath had a post office beginning in 1858 after gold was discovered near there a few years earlier, but the post office was closed in 1899. From that point, folks in Bath would post their mail about 1.5 miles to the northeast in the town of Foresthill. This postcard was postmarked in January-- very likely in 1908 based on context clues (divided back postcard & 1-cent Franklin stamp)-- in Foresthill, Placer County, California, and sent to San Francisco, CA. After the years the postcard may show some typical wear. In the effort to keep our costs down, I tend to trust our postal service and it works out great "99.9%" of the time. Moreover, in my experience "ephemera enthusiasts" are a great community of people who are collaborative and don't take advantage of each other; therefore, I typically do not feel the need to drive up your costs so that I can later prove successful delivery-- I trust you. However, if you want to purchase certified mail services (includes tracking), then please send me a message so that we can make arrangements.I collect, trade, and sell ephemera because it's interesting and fun. If I'm selling something that you'd like to own but you perceive that my asking price is just too high for your taste or budget, then please offer me "a deal I can't refuse." I like it best when everybody gets what they want. Thanks for considering this keepsake.
