Starring Sid James and Diana Coupland, it was created by Vince Powell and Harry Driver, but mainly written by other hands including Dave Freeman and Carla Lane. It was made for the ITV network by Thames Television. In 2004, Bless This House was ranked by a BBC poll as the 67th Best British Sitcom. The incomparable Sidney James stars as successful travelling stationery salesman and average family man Sid Abbott in this classic ITV comedy. A man who would give anything for a quiet life, his position as head of the chaotic Abbott household is constantly being eroded by the harassment and seemingly unreasonable demands made by his family – wife and sparring partner Jean, played superbly by Diana Coupland, groovy, art-school dropout son Mike (Robin Stewart) and schoolgirl daughter Sally (Sally Geeson). The sympathetic neighbours Betty (Patsy Rowlands) and Trevor (Anthony Jackson) are always on hand to make a bad situation worse... Hello :-) IMPORTANT DVD INFORMATION FOR MY US & CANADIAN CUSTOMERS: As per the auction these are Europe Region 2 DVDs (US/Canada are Region 1) and you need a multi-regional (multi-zone) DVD player to play them! BUT don't panic just yet :-) Many DVD players are easy to unlock. Let me know the brand and model number of your DVD player so I see if there is a simple unlock code for your player. Many of my US/Canadian customers chose to play or copy these DVDs on a PC before playing them. I also see there are many economical Multi Region DVD players on EBay ($35-50). Just do a search if you wish. It seems a shame to let go of this great DVD set. Cheers :-)
