Description: WW2 British Brodie Helmet Description Reproduction of the World War Two British Brodie Helmet complete with a sprung webbing chin strap. The Brodie helmet was adopted in September 1915. The design draws inspiration from the medieval kettle helmet, being designed to protect the wearer from missiles from above. Originally made from Hadfield Steel which was impervious to shrapnel from artillery shells. Although it did not offer as much all around protection as the German Stahlhelm it was far cheaper and quicker to produce. British and Commonwealth forces used Brodie helmets for the remainder of WW1 and the majority of WW2. It was not completely replaced in British service until after WW2. The helmet was adopted by US forces as the M1917 "Doughboy", and was also used by many nations well into the Cold War. These will comfortably fit a head size 54-55cm, or a tight 56. Helmet is 100% Steel.
