I purchased this necklace while on my most recent trip to Chiapas. This part of Mexico is known for their Amber mines... Mexican Amber is approximately 25 million years old and has a lovely Clear Golden Color... This necklace is a one of a kind piece of wearable art. It is strung on a waxed cord with a slip knot so it can be adjusted in length and is accompanied with other amber beads.... The Necklace can adjust from 18 inches long to 32 inches long with the center piece measuring 2 1/2 inches in long by 2 inches wide and 1/2 of an inch deep. "J. Eric S. Thompson, who wrote, back in 1960, ‘The Maya conceived of the divisions of time as burdens which were carried through all eternity by relays of bearers... [not] the journey of one bearer and his load, but of many bearers, each with his own division of time on his back.’ In what Thompson calls the ‘never-ceasing journey of time’, each bearer of time plays his part in a cosmic relay, preparing to rest on completion of his individual stage, and to pass on the burden to the next carrier."
