Description: Vintage RPPC YUKON STAR in Tongass Narrows Ketchikan Alaska Schallerer Original vintage RPPC . . . undated, Kodak stampbox . . . circa 1950s Launched under the name Sandgate Castle for the Royal Navy in 1943 at Middelborough, England. Before completion, transferred to the Canadian Navy and renamed St.Thomas. In 1946, converted into a coastal passenger ship and renamed Camosun. Renamed Chilcotin (II)in 1958 for a short time before getting the name Yukon Star the same year. In 1958-1970 she was owned by Alaska Cruise Lines Ltd., Vancouver BC. I In 1970, laid up at Vancouver. Sold to be broken up on July 15, 1974. Broken up at Tacoma, WA in 1975 by General Metals Yard.
