July 12, 2018 The two launch towers at Cape Canaveral’s Launch Complex 17 (LC-17) were brought down with demolition charges on July 12, 2018. The site was first built to test fly Thor missiles in the 1950s and for decades was used to launch Delta rockets. A Delta II rocket in 2011 was the final launch with the towers at LC-17.
