The USPS does not deal in fractions of a pound when pricing media mail. 8 oz of media mail costs the same to ship as 1 lb. To ship 1 lb and 1 oz of media mail costs the same to ship as 2 lbs. You can often tell how much a book weighs if the seller has posted the pre-printed information in the additional details description that appears prior to the sellers customized description. HOWEVER, realize that information can be wrong and it does not take into account the weight of the box and other shipping materials. Media mail is relatively cheap but it can be slow. It truly can take up to 9 business days to receive from the time it hits the post office. Your seller has absolutely NO control over the shipping time once it leaves their hands.
