Description: Remarkable early 20th century wooden circus animal stand in black and white paint from Indiana was part of the Hagenbeck-Wallace circus, and then Ringling Brothers after the sale of the American Circus Corporation in 1929. Wooden stands of this shape were common before large metal stands were widely adopted, as reflected in the era’s art; elephants and other animals pictured on colorful four sided sloped platforms captured the zeitgeist of the turn of the century circus. Good condition consistent with age and use. Paint chips, scratches, cracks, etc.- all the issues you would imagine use by an almost two ton animal would incur! Please review photographs. Old paint on three sides and top, it appears someone tried to freshen up one side more recently (fifth photograph). Stand is 28 inches wide and 13 1/2 inches tall, with a 18 inch square top. Weighs approximately 50 pounds. Free delivery within 100 miles of Philadelphia. $200 flat rate freight shipping or regional delivery to all other areas.
