Description: This is an early quarter chiming Austrian mantel clock in a great looking balloon style clock case. The case has a key drawer at the base. Mechanically, the clock appears to be complete, but one of the chime springs is not catching and my guess is that it’s broken on the outer end because the spring will wind a little then slip. The other springs were wound and held. The clock ticks and chimed the quarter when the hands are cycled. This is the extent of the testing so the clock is being sold as found. The case is very nice with a great shape and an attractive tiger striped veneer on a secondary wood. The case feels solid and is better than most other Austrian cases that I have owned. The joints are dovetailed. I’m guessing the age to be 1840’s or so. This is a great looking clock and priced to sell so don’t miss it!
