Description: EDISON GOLD MOULDED CYLINDER RECORDING BLANK EDISON GOLD MOULDED WAX CYLINDER RECORDING BLANK. These blanks are produced by shaving the surface of original Gold Moulded cylinders to remove the old grooves and other imperfections. Each blank is visibly inspected for flaws in the surface. I have experimented with recording made with these blanks by the simple pantograph method and have had excellent results. The copies faithfully reproduce the sound of the original cylinder, with slightly lower volume but are quite acceptable. With more sophisticated recording techniques, I believe that even better copies are possible. Each cylinder comes in a custom box wrapped in tissue. Because these are original cylinders over 115 years old, there may be minor cosmetic flaws, but they will not affect the recording surface. I have had good feedback from those who have purchased these blanks from me in the past.
