Description: Formed in 1989 in the city of Most, Eduard began in a rented cellar as a manufacturer of photo etched brass model components. Following the success of their early products, the company branched off into plastic models in 1993. To the plastic modeler community at large, Eduard has become a household word in the field of photo etched parts. Eduard also produces aircraft kits that range from World War I to the present-day. The Boeing B-17, though not the most produced, is WWII’s most famous American heavy bomber, earning the nickname ‘Flying Fortress’ from a journalist who noted the ten bristling .50 caliber machine guns on its first flight. Among its most renowned variants was the B-17F-10-BO, tail number 03888, of the 324th Bomber Squadron in the UK, named ‘Memphis Belle’ by its pilot, Lt. Robert K. Morgan, after his sweetheart. This aircraft and its crew became the first USAAF bomber team to complete 25 European missions and return home, later starring in a War Bond Tour and the Hollywood propaganda film Memphis Belle. The plane was eventually preserved in Memphis as a memorial.
