Description: Offered here is a rare, top-of-the-line 2005 Epiphone Elitist Takburst Les Paul Standard with workmanship comparable to a Gibson Custom Shop guitar. This is your opportunity to own this stunning Les Paul for thousands less than the rare Gibson Amber Quilt-Top model. Gibson stopped making the Elitist Les Paul series in 2008 because many guitarists found the quality and workmanship to be superior to the USA-made Gibsons. The Elitist guitars are made with premium, hand-selected woods fitted with American pickups, circuitry, toggle switches and high-end tuners. This one includes real abalone fingerboard inlays, a mother of pearl headstock inlay and a hand-rubbed finish. The Elitist Takburst features a book-matched quilt-maple top with a glowing amber-burst finish complemented by a book-matched, solid mahogany body. If you look, you can see the head of a “Big Cat” below the bridge in the quilt-maple top. The following specs are from the original owner: the 22 fret, one-piece mahogany neck is .826” thick at the 1st fret and .886” thick at the 12th fret, and the nut width is 1 11/16” and 2 1/16” at the 12th fret. The 8 lb. 13 oz. weight helps to sustain notes and chords. The bridge pick-up is a US factory Gibson Burstbucker-3 and ohms at 8.68, and the neck pickup is a Seymour Duncan P-Rail and ohms at 7.30. Using the 3-way (on-off-on) mini-switch of the P-Rail, the unique hybrid pickup can be split to give you a super fat humbucker, an authentic vintage P90, or be split to the Rail coil for a classic Strat-like tone. The guitar just received a set-up, new strings and had the frets leveled and re-crowned by an experienced luthier. It is in excellent condition with light fret-wear on a few frets in the middle of the neck (see photo) and a few light surface scratches on the back with two very small dents on the back corner of the lower bout that were there when I bought it.
