Description: EXCELLENT PLUS M1942 PAL 1943 LONG BAYONET W/USN MK 1 M3 SCABBARD. When the United States entered WWII after being attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the only bayonets it had for its M1903 Springfield and newly-issued M1 rifles were the Springfield and Rock Island Arsenal M1905 bayonets made for and shortly after WWI. It immediately began ordering new M1905 bayonets - commonly referred to as M1942 bayonets - from six different manufacturers. One of these was the PAL Blade Company (PAL). PAL ended up only making 210,000, or 14.8%, of the total of 1,450,000 M1942 bayonets made during WWII. This is one of them, made in 1942, and, as the photos show, it is in excellent plus condition. Its blade is unsharpened and almost pristine. It is properly stamped, "PAL/U (flaming bomb symbol) S/1943," indicating it was made in 1943. The bayonet comes with a Beckwith-made USN MK 1 M3 scabbard in excellent plus condition. It has my inventory sticker on the back, which is easily removeable. If you have any questions, please ask before buying or making an offer. Thanks.
