Description: It is our pleasure to present, for your consideration, this Fabulous Walnut Victorian Needlepoint Chair Attributed to George Hunzinger (Circa: 1870). George Hunzinger was one of only a few furniture makers in the Victorian era whose designs were not derived from historical styles or fashion, but rather from an emerging vision of the modern era, with forms reflecting functional, mechanical influences which would characterize American design in the century to come. This beautiful Victorian chair weighs approximately 25 pounds and measures 35 ¾” in total height, 18 ¾” in width, 22 ½” in depth and has a seat height of 17 ½”. The details on this chair are lovely! Elegant, desirable needlepoint upholstery with a rich ivory background and floral rose motif in shades of rose, burgundy, gold, green, ivory, lavender, blue and gray (in excellent condition with no major staining) adorns the seat and cameo back of this beautiful chair. Special details on this lovely chair include a lovely arched incised carved back crest with curved moulding and rosette roundels along with a pierced designed stylized geometric medallion cross sitting above the lovely oval burl cameo frame that is holding beautiful rose needlepoint upholstery. A scrolled back-splat with diamond shaped burl ornamentation is found beneath the burl cameo frame. This gorgeous chair is constructed with elegant carved and turned posts used in unique ways as was quite in keeping with the design characteristics of George Hunzinger. You do not find these chairs very often and this one is absolutely fabulous! The patina and grain of the rich walnut wood is splendid!
