Description: From Zinn NK West German Pewter Wall Plate Courtship Lovers Clock Tower Fountain. Minor scuffing, likely from dust and improper cleaning, nothing too deep. That's on the outer border/rim. The molded sculpture itself is close to mint. It is signed "Holman", presumably the artist of the original. The pictures features 4 people, the two central being a man, top hat doffed, enthusiastically offering a large bouquet to a woman who seems either disinterested or distracted or perhaps simply preoccupied with her task or caught off guard. The other two individuals seem to be on the one hand a nosy townsperson, perhaps the sister or friend or heaven forbid the great aunt to the man's object of affection? And on the other hand just someone way off in the background but perhaps she is looking this way too? How embarrassing for the young man? Is he actually that young? We don't really see his face but his coiffure, attire, and somewhat rotund midsection suggest he could be older. So much to interpret. The scene also includes a fountain from which the woman seems to be drawing water, a clock tower, a set of stairs leading to what might just be the town square, a garden or courtyard just past the fountain, and some structures that could be houses or maybe an inn or tavern or quaint business (printer? brewer? Something else that seems sufficiently German?). The plate is just shy of 9.5" in diameter and right at 1" deep.
