Description: Finished building this banjo on November 1, 2024. Cherry body and nice straight grain oak neck. It measures overall 36”, 11” wide, 2 5/8” side height and I got the bridge 24” from the nut in the photos here. Feels really good in the hands and the ebony violin pegs are set into holes reamed with two violin peg reamers which one is made special for the 5th peg. So what these reamers do is cut an angled hole with same taper and thickness as the pegs for maximum friction fit. I will enclose a set of guidelines I typed up back in the summer that will explain more about the instrument, myself and things like my favorite tuning etc. This is just like the ones Stanley Hicks family was making that was in the foxfire book. We owe a lot to Stanley and his brother in all the work he did to keep our Appalachian mountain folk traditions going and when you buy this banjo or one of my others here you are doing your part to keep the mountain traditions alive as well. Has a nice clear sound with these super nylgut strings. I have a lot of musicians who are repeat customers and even had a guy who lived with Stanley hicks and Frank Proffit approve of the authenticity of my banjos so that should tell you everything you need to know right there but do Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
