Description: Gestalt Principles of Design Interchangeable Art Teaching Tool My best guess is this was designed to be used as a college-level teaching tool. It was found at an estate sale. There are four different acrylic slides that can inserted into the frame to discuss the Gestalt principles of design. The frame is made of wood with slots on the side and the top to remove/change the desired slide. The slides are made of acrylic. The designs on the slides are in a wonderful mid-century style in red, black, and white. There is no hanger on the back, but one can be added or it can be propped up. It is approximately 12.5"x12.5" This is a fantastic piece - perhaps one of a kind. I can't find anything like it. The word 'gestalt' means form or pattern, and this quote from Gestalt pioneer Kurt Koffka sums it up nicely – "The whole is other than the sum of the parts." Gestalt theory posits that when we look at a complex image or design consisting of many elements, our brains will try to create some form, pattern, or structure.
