The film is about the little daughter of the partisan commander Panas, who during the Great Patriotic War was left alone on the Belarusian land occupied by the Nazis. The old forester hides the girl in the forest house, the Nazis are looking for her, hoping to use Lenochka as a hostage. The grandson of the deceased forester, Janka, risking his own life, saves the partisan's daughter from the Nazis.
